your journey, your healing…

Ravyn Robinson-Barco, CRMT

Ravyn first discovered Reiki while on a business trip in Florida. She was amazed to find relief from ongoing mental health symptoms within one session. Because of the undeniable effects of Reiki, she was immediately drawn to study energy healing. Her positive experience from one Reiki session has reinforced her sense that working with the health of our energy body is key to healing.

She began studying Reiki formally in April of 2021 and received her Reiki Master certification a year and a half later. Ravyn deepened her understanding of energy anatomy and the human energy system in yogic studies graduating with YTT-265 in 2023. Her curiosity and quest to further her knowledge of energy and healing motivated her to begin studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine. She began to pursue a Master of Acupuncture in 2023 with a specialization in Chinese Herbal Medicine. As Ravyn continues her studies, she embarked upon the path of teaching Reiki so that others could benefit from the healing potential of Reiki.

She continues to glean from wisdom teachings of each modality that she has experienced integrating them into a synergistic view of health, wholeness and well-being. Upon graduation in 2026 Ravyn will offer customizable treatment options that utilize the myriad wisdoms that she has accrued.

Frequently asked questions

  • Ravyn often refers to Reiki as a massage for the soul. Reiki is a supportive energy healing practice where practitioners guide the flow of energy to promote healing and guide the flow of energy throughout the body.

This modality supports Western and alternative medicine and is often categorized within complementary alternative medicine modalities.

"Rei" translates to "universe" or "life force".

"ki" translates to the physical energy of the body (also known as qi); put together, Reiki translates to "universal life force energy".

  • During a Reiki session, one can expect to experience a relaxed, meditative state as the practitioner places their hands gently on or above specific areas of the body.

The practitioner may also apply light, gentle pressure, or sweeping motions over the body.

Throughout the session, recipients remain clothed. The practitioner may also use crystals, gemstones, and music. Clients may experience sensations of warmth and other healing vibrations emanating from the practitioner's hands. During the session, recipients may also experience insight or emotional releases.

After the session, recipients report feeling relaxed, balanced and refreshed.

  • A question often asked in the Reiki community relates to the differences among Reiki lineages. All present-day Reiki practitioners can trace their teacher lineage to Mikao Usui who developed the practice as we use it today.

This topic was discussed several times during the Reiki III (Master) program Ravyn studied under Susan Chiocci at ReikiColorado Academy. This topic is delicate and has been approached by noting that there are certain qualities of energy within any practice. It is Ravyn's opinion that energetic practices and their "potency" are attributed to what matters most: the practitioner's intention.

  • In a large-scale multi-site effectiveness trial conducted at Harvard, researchers concluded that a single session of Reiki improves multiple physical and psychological health variables.

Dyer, Baldwin, & Rand (2019) state that Reiki "acutely improved physical and psychological symptoms associated with many health conditions, including affect, pain, depression, anxiety, tiredness, drowsiness, nausea, shortness of breath, appetite, and overall well-being."

Reiki is known for its ability to provide immediate relief for a wide range of health conditions. It is used for this purpose both within and outside of hospital settings. In fact, an AHA survey found that Reiki is now one of the top three complementary in-patient therapies in U.S. hospitals (Doran, 2021).

Lepine (2021) noted "...more than 60 U.S. hospitals have adopted Reiki as part of patient services, according to a UCLA study, and Reiki education is offered at 800 hospitals"
